About the Questions ...
Ok, so technically, these questions haven't been 'frequently' asked ... yet. But having worked with webmasters for some years now, I have a fair idea of the kind of questions that will come up.
I'll add to this page as the need develops. In the meantime, if you have questions not addressed here, feel free to email me. You can get more detailed info about the WebRing System from WebRing Help/Support.
I've numbered these for easy reference.

Can I put the Seth WebRing code on more than one page?
Absolutely ... I know I do. This will generally mean you'll send more visitors to the webring and your site will be ranked higher.

Where can I get my current / correct ring navigation code?
You get your linking code from the WebRing system. Make sure you're logged into the WebRing system and then click on the My Web Sites link. You might be able to go directly to it with this URL : http://o.webring.com/mbr?p=mu

Why can't I make up my own links?
The WebRing system requires the specific linking code to function correctly. You have the option of using the SSNB or the HTML versions of the code, but you must use one or the other to participate. Just putting a text link to the SethRing is NOT acceptable.
If this is all you can do, perhaps a typical link exchange would be more what you're looking for. See SecretOfLife.com Links. I have set up a category for Seth Related links.

Why is my site listed with a red thumb down?
There is a problem with your webring linking code. For some reason, the system either can't find the code or found it with errors.
Historically, the cause is that the webmaster has either altered their URL or else didn't update the linking code when the WebRing system left Yahoo! In most cases, if you go get a fresh copy of the linking code and install it on your site, the problem will be resolved. Note that it takes a day or so for the system to check and update the icon after you've fixed it.
If you have looked and can't find the cause of the problem, drop me an eMail and I'll try to help you resolve it.

Why is this ring's Navigation Rating low?
This is a bit of a sore subject with me. The short answer is because more than a few of the members of the webring either have errors in their linking code OR have the linking code buried on their site.
As time permits, I am contacting individual site owners and trying to get their linking problems resolved. However, so far, I'm not having a lot of luck.
Because I inherited this ring, I am reluctant to delete long time members even when they never update their linking code or don't answer email. That may change at some point in the near future for the overall health of the webring. All I can say is that if you keep checking, you'll see the Navigation Rating growing higher.

What is a 'Featured' site?
The 'Featured' site(s) appear at the top of the page any time webring pages are loaded. Site(s) appearing there generally pay for the extra exposure. Sometimes, when all the spots are not filled, I will place one of the member sites there for a short time to give them some extra exposure.

How can I get my site one of the 'Featured' spots?

If you are sincerly interested in having your site 'Featured', eMail me for rates and availability.

How is the list ranked?
Currently, the order of the list is based on referrals to the webring. After trying several different methods of ordering the list, I settled on this one because it gives due credit to sites who contribute the most. Please note that any site that attempts to artificially inflate its referrals will be dropped from the ring.

My site used to be in the ring but now its gone. What happened?
It could be you've just overlooked your site. This has happened more than once. However, in all likelihood, your site was suspended and/or deleted from the ring. This generally happens if your site stops working or doesn't appear to have the Seth WebRing linking code on it any more.
When I run across a site with problems, I generally suspend the site and email the webmaster using the email address you have on record with the WebRing system. Typically I ask you to get back to me within a few days with an explanation or to let me know the problem is solved. If the email isn't answered, I eventually delete the site from the webring. As you can see, it's very important for you to keep both your URL and your email address current in the webring system.
If you can't find your site, drop me an eMail giving me your site title and URL (web address) and, if you know it, your ring id. If the site is suspended and the problem is solved, I can reactivate your membership in the webring. If you site has been deleted, I'll let you know you'll need to reapply.

Do I have to put your link on my main page?
Nope. I feel that you, as webmaster, should be able to decide on the best place to put links. As the webring is ranked by the number of referrals you send, the more you send the better placement (and likely, more return traffic) you will get. As long as you're sending some traffic, you can decide on your best level of participation. If you go for long periods of sending no referrals, your account is deemed inactive and subject to removal.
Please note that in the very near future, I may require that the target URL (what page a surfer lands on when they arrive via the webring) has the webring linking code on it. This is how the WebRing system is designed to work best and makes it much easier on visitors to surf a webring.
I reserve the right to refuse or remove any site from participation when I feel that
their participation is not in the overall best interest to the Seth WebRing.
I reserve the right to modify the rules as needed to maintain a quality WebRing.
